Besides Me sets out to critically address the relationship between subject and individual, between subject and collectivity, and ultimately the relationship between subject and all that lies beyond the subject. He addresses this by questioning the centrality of man in the universe, placed in an immovable balance anchored to his own security. Besides Me wants to push the body out of its centre for the gamble of coming into contact with a possible and mirroring other; for the gamble of considering one’s own point of view not as the only one, possible and legitimate, but only one among many.
The aim is to lead the individual – the dancing body of the dancer, the sound body of the music, the luminous body of the ray of light and the observing body of the spectator – to change perspective and spaces of action, opening up the possibility of reading and observing a situation through a different gaze from the previous one, enriching one’s own vision. From these premises, the desire to search for and experiment with new balances outside one’s own centre of gravity and certitudes develops.
The artistic reflection questions the possibility of de-territorialising and disrupting the centre of body and soul in order to recreate new connections and concatenations. With Besides Me one discovers other places, concrete or imaginary, one generates other lives, paths and situations through exposure to the risk of error and the abyss of the borders.
