DanceMe UP was a Creative Europe cooperation project coordinated by Perypezye Urbane. It brought together performers, audiences and cultural professionals from across Europe around DanceMe — a digital platform for choreographic research, today recognised by the Italian Ministry of Culture as an official tool for dance production — exploring participatory creation both online and in person.

Across six countries and a shared virtual space, the project supported 16 artistic residencies for 7 creative projects, 5 workshops on dance and digital cultures, and 15 showings, with the DanceMe app working both as a creative tool and as a virtual stage — over 320 videos were posted and responded to by artists and audiences. Productions developed within DanceMe UP include Besides Me (Elisa Sbaragli), Ave Monstrum (Chiara Ameglio), Pile of Pieces (Julek Kreutzer and Diethild Meier).
Carried out almost entirely during the pandemic, the project turned constraints into method, developing the idea of “virtual mobility” and a shared practice of co-creation, and culminated in a major networking presence at Tanzmesse 2022 in Düsseldorf. Through the partnership, Perypezye Urbane strengthened its international relations and the European touring of its artists.
